Where a former telephone exchange once stood, a vibrant and open city block has now taken shape. The former KPN building has been transformed into a place where living and working blend seamlessly, right in the heart of ’s-Hertogenbosch.
This project consists of four key elements: 62 social housing units in the north block, the renovation of office spaces in the central block, and 158 mid-range and private-sector rental apartments in the south block.
The design intentionally reflects the atmosphere and scale of the historic city centre of ’s-Hertogenbosch. Façade rhythm, material choices, and refined proportions create a strong sense of familiarity and ensure a natural connection with the surrounding urban fabric. Courtyards and passageways have been introduced around the residential blocks, drawing on the traditional courtyard typology that defines the character of the city.
